Aakash(tablet) is the world's cheapest tablet developed and made in India.

Aakash which costs ₹2276 per unit is being further subsidized by the Government of India and is being offered at ₹1200 to students.

• This Indian tablet is powered by Android 2.2 Froyo Operating System with 7 inch touchscreen, WiFi and 3G (optional through data card) connectivity.

• It was fully developed and made in India at QUAD Electronic Solutions in Medchal(Hyderabad).

• The Aakash was developed by the Indian Institute of Technology with the help of Montreal-based DataWind.

Aakash, costing about
3000, has received about 3 lakh pre-launch bookings for its commercial version that goes on sale later next month.
