• Google has marked the 96th birthday of electric guitar pioneer Lester William Polsfuss ( Les Paul ) with a strummable guitar logo.
• Les Paul (1915-2009), for those unfamiliar, was a jazz/blues musician and inventor of the solid-body electric guitar that kicked-started rock and roll.
• Paul's work on the solid-body guitar is credited with helping make the sound of rock and roll possible, and he was also a keen explorer of recording innovations.
• Google's Les Paul doodle lets you play and listen. In the U.S., meanwhile, users could record a 30-second snippet of their creations and share with friends.
